In Loving Memory of MiKayla McElwee

On Friday, September 19th, 2008, our Groton Mysic Family suffered a great loss. One of our Micro Cheerleaders, Mikayla, passed away. She had been ill for the last several months with Leukemia, and recently underwent a bone marrow transplant. She was being treated at the Boston's Children's Hospital for 2 types of Leukemia. This year, the GMFYFL Board Members and Coaches decided to dedicate our program to her. Mikayla cared most about cheerleading and getting well to come back and cheer for the Falcons. This would have been her 3rd year cheering for us, her twin brother Michael also played football, but decided not to because he didn't feel right not having her cheer for him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mikayla's parents, siblings, family and friends during this time, as we play in her memory, as she and her spirit will never be forgotten.
